Doug Lawrence is an accomplished American saxophonist, known for his exceptional skills and versatile playing across jazz and contemporary music. Born in 1953, Lawrence has established himself as one of the premier jazz saxophonists of his generation. He is a member of the Count Basie Orchestra, earning widespread recognition for his rich tone, impeccable technique, and engaging improvisation.
World-renowned tenor man and passion-driven jazz dreamer, Doug has performed and recorded with a truly vast array of music legends… from Ella and Sarah to Jimmy Cobb, George Cables and Billie Eilish. For the past 25 years he has traveled the world as lead tenor player in the famed Count Basie Orchestra.
